A new unified effort for Campus Ministry at WIU is being formed in
Macomb. At least three different protestant faith traditions are
working to unite the students of each church to develop a stronger
Christian on the WIU campus. The churches participating at this time
include: First
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), St. George's Episcopal
(Anglican), and Trinity
Lutheran (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America). Other churches
are being contacted to join the effort.
As soon as CaMP (Campus Ministry Partnership) was organized this past
summer, it was approached by the chaplain at the Wesley Foundation at
WIU (United Methodist Church campus ministry) in hopes of cooperating
for events and planning. This alliance provides meeting space and the
main thrust of the joint effort in the form of a Wednesday night
student-led contemporary worship service hosted by the Wesley
Foundation. The service of praise and worship begins at 9:15pm and
includes the Eucharist (Lord's Supper) each week. Students are
welcomed for informal fellowship both before and after the
service.
Each church continues to invite and welcome students to their
individual Sunday morning traditional worship services as well as
other programming throughout the week. Students may contact any of the
participating ministers to receive more information on the program(s)
of the churches or CaMP.
