The regular meeting of the Macomb Lions Club was held on April 19, 2012. Members gathered in the dining room of the Grand Prairie Home with those members in attendance as shown on the Attendance Record and Guest Register. Transcribed below is what happened at the meeting:

Program –Brenda Miller, Director of Planned Giving, American Cancer Society. Works closely with McDonough District Hospital to work with patients as soon as they are diagnosed with cancer. Provides services (wigs, makeup, etc), have support groups. They help patients navigate through the process and help families with lodging and transportation if they need to leave Macomb for their treatment. American Cancer Society has been doing research since 1946. They concentrate their funding on new, up and coming researchers. Experienced researchers can garner support from the federal government. To date they have had 6 Nobel Laureates as researchers. Research has almost tripled the survival rate.
